A Sunrise Session at Smith Gardens: Photographing Friends in a Quiet Corner of Oakwood

There’s something magical about Smith Gardens in Oakwood—especially at sunrise. The air feels softer, the colors richer, and the whole garden seems to glow from within. It’s a quaint, intimate space, never sprawling or overwhelming, but full of charming pockets where families naturally fall into connection. And even with winter quickly approaching, Smith Gardens still held onto its gorgeous flowers and pockets of greenery, adding an unexpected touch of color to the morning. This session was extra special for me because it wasn’t just any family—I’ve known Fiona since the day she was born. She is one of the most creative and caring kids I’ve ever met. Her giggles, imagination, and effortless playfulness made my job unbelievably easy. And honestly—who knew Brian could jump that high?  I loved seeing everyone smiling and giggling throughout our time together. It reminded me why I love doing what I do.
